Starting this blog thing, and I decided it should be about some things that are most important to me.

Family first they say, right? Well obviously. My family is literally first and foremost in everything I do. As a mom to two, my kids quite literally consume every free moment I have. They drive me crazy; they drive each other crazy; I can't even escape to the bathroom for peace and quiet. My kids are at the age though, where they are fun. My son, Oliver is 7, and my daughter, Lilen is 5. They are finally at the age where they are independent enough to play on their own, and more importantly...together! Oh my stars, to hear them laugh, or conspire (which is actually terrifying when you think about what they may be conjuring up), or just being in the same room drawing. It is undoubtedly, the most amazing thing to see and hear! I seriously love those two so much it hurts sometimes. And come on now, look at those faces.

Yup, these two are my most favourite things...IN. THE. ENTIRE. WORLD!!!

From a photography standpoint, I think there are few things that have really stood out to me in the past couple years.

One thing is I love looking back on old photo shoots. I love looking back at them to see just how far I've grown as a photographer. I remember when I first got my camera, and was basically GIVING sessions away so that I could build up a clientele. Honestly, some of those photos aren't even in focus! The presets are cringe worthy; my black & whites were basically sepia tone all the time; the exposure is terrible; they're grainy...I was shooting in Auto for crying out loud! See...

2015; I think this was literally one of my very first sessions. Nothing in this photo is in focus, by the way.

I remember being so nervous about sharing the photos because I had no clue what I was doing. The pressure of my clients liking the photos was so real. I'm still thankful that, like I said, I basically gave those sessions away. Looking at this photo, I honestly feel like I need new glasses. The composition is cute. Mom and daughter walking in a park hand in hand. But it is literally COMPLETELY OUT OF FOCUS! How did I even give this photo away?

I love looking back at photos like this to remind myself that I can indeed take really great photos...NOW! I've learned my camera. I learned what it can do. I invested in a better lens. I learned to take better photos. And I did...

2018; I love this photo...probably one of my favourite "mom & her kids" photos to date!

Honestly, I actually hate looking back at old photos because let's be real, that first photo is awful. Like truly awful. But I truly LOVE seeing how much better I've gotten over the years! I think it's important to acknowledge growth in whatever it is that we do. Whether it be in photography or starting a fitness journey. Appreciate where you came from but always continue to want to grow and learn and push yourself to do better.

Primarily, this blog will be about the sessions I've just completed. But as I've just gone through an update, for the first few posts I'll be going back over some of my favourite past shoots. Looking back can be fun...and I've had a lot of fun sessions over the years, so I'm looking forward to reminiscing!

Night y'all

Lynette
